The days of war against the Horde are over. Relative peace now reigns throughout Azeroth. It is in this time that we meet Tirion Fordring, a renowned paladin of the Order of the Silver Hand. While out in the woods one day, Tirion suddenly faces a deadly challenge, and a bond of friendship that will turn his existence upside down. Written by the creator of the Warcraft universe himself, Of Blood and Honor is a mediocre, but enjoyable addition to it. Both in length, plot and number of characters it..more

More of a Novella than an actual novel, this is one of the better books in the Warcraft universe. It takes place shortly after the events of Lord of the Clans, and is a nice background for one of the main characters in Wrath of the Lich King, Tirion Fordring.
This short story was entertaining but some what hard to ingest considering I’m for The Horde! The book takes place during very dark days turning anew. There was a glimpse of hope during a turmoil time of war.
One of the best books I have ever read, right under Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, by Christie Golden. Chris Metzen has some extremely great writing skills, and reading this book inspired me to write my own 50 page fan-fiction dedicated to my WoW Character named Brunden Valorwind. Great book, and I recommend it to any fantasy lover and especially any Warcraft Lore-hound! :D
This book, while short, did not lack the grandeur that those of longer length may have. It was an incredible story that gave you a more in depth explanation of Tirion Fordring's life than was given to you by the MMORPG, World of Warcraft. The characters had much depth, and the reader will likely find them self loving certain characters and hoping they succeed, and hating others. The theme of honor was also interestingly explored, creating a perspective which one might not expect to have. All in..more
Good stuff. I like Metzen's writing a lot.

A well written story about Tirion. A quick read but definitely a worthwhile book for Warcraft fans.
Of Blood and Honor takes place in the Warcraft universe, where the events of World of Warcraft takes place. This story is a reletively short one, and takes place prior to the times after Warcraft 3. The main character in this story is Tirion Fordring, a paladin in the human and dwarf meeting called Knights of the Silver Hands. Tirion Fordring has grown up to believe that orcs have no sense of mercy, and since a paladin has always protected his village from them. However, in an unexpected act of..more

I wanted to like this book especially since I paid money for it despite it being available online for free. Don't make the same mistake. It's not well written and doesn't add enough to Warcraft lore to be worthwhile. The characters are unbelievable and they live in an old fashioned world more like medieval earth than Azeroth (the main character's 1960s wife makes me want to cry.) The ideas in the book--honour, mostly--are interesting but not well represented by this novella.
A decent pally story. Even Arthas the paladin makes an appearance.
A story focusing on a few events and places within the huge World of Warcraft, it has evoked pleasant feelings and it almost felt like playing the PC game long ago, but in a different way. Setting the story for Warcraft 3, it introduces some characters from the lore. The writing, though, is simplistic and meant to appeal to a greater audience, to consumers of other digital media. The focus is on details that paint images from the game in your mind (if you have played it before) and not on plot de..more

I started for the lore - I stayed for the nice writing quality and exciting passages! This book gave me invaluable insight into the actuality of what it means to be a paladin and some disillusionment with Uther's fabled wisdom. However, I would not recommend it to someone without basic knowledge of the world, races, wars and key figures. (view spoiler)[ Go through Western Plaguelands and surrounding areas and figure out the map before you start reading. Googling every couple of pages gets irritat..more
It was great finally delving in to the lore of a series I have played for years! That being said, I thought this was good, but expected it to be far better. More of a novella than a novel, it felt like this story was a bit rushed, and really only touched the surface of a situation that could have been momentous. Overall, still an enjoyable read though! Fun to see familiar people and place names in a context that I wasn’t familiar with, and gain a greater understanding of the game’s history.

Fantastic read. Gives a very interesting insight into the sense of honor that both Horde & Alliance are attuned to. I didn’t put the book down, & as it is a light read, I finished it rather quickly. Metzen is a very good writer, dialogue being one of his strong suits. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Warcraft, or otherwise a fan of general fantasy.

Really good story, I'm not an alliance fan but every single character on this books is very important on the whole story, and Tirion is the paladin that gives the example great book and good story, good job Chris
Litterally a jaw dropping non-stop action with a happy ending . In less than 120 pages I was sucked in the whole Warcraft series . Definitelly a must read for fans of the fantasy genre . For the Alliance .

The very case when people begin to forget their vows and codes of honor. I recommend to read. Very short, but good story

Fantastic short story about Tirion Fordring. Emotional, thrilling, fast paced and well written. Props to Metzen!
A great introduction to the WarCraft series, can't wait to read the rest!
Recommended. Great story about being torn between honor and duty. Looking forward to reading more books in the Warcraft universe.

If you are not Warcraft fan - skip this one. I'm, and it was a solid story about Paladin in oaths conflict. Nothing more than that, but it was fun and fast read.

'By the grace of the Light, may your brethren be healed.' I completely adore the Warcraft universe, I'm just going to state that right now. I've never really enjoyed the games but god damn the universe is a fantasy marvel in my eyes. That being said this is a story by Chris Metzen, the creator of the Warcraft universe himself and does he do a good job with Of Blood and Honor? Hell, fucking, yes! Okay, so how do you know you've created an astonishingly expansive and engaging fantasy universe? Write..more
Not bad at all. I started reading warcraft books, when I was little, and I enjoyed the books a lot. After I grew up, I noticed an interesting thing. The six books I read (the first two warcraft trilogies) were still good, but not quite as awesome as I remembered. However, the world of warcraft books felt almost disappointing. I'm not sure, if they really got worse, or if I'm just not judging them through the eyes of a little kid anymore..possibly, I was unlucky in the choice of the specific boo..more
Despite having a rather generic title and being based on a game series, whose most famous entry consists mostly of hacking and slashing play, Chris Metzen's novel manages to tell a moving, nicely structured story, with a well fleshed-out characters, avoiding many of the fantasy clichés. Instead of focusing on mindless action, the author tries to develop the psychological aspect and interpersonal relations, while placing in the centre a moral dillema, rather than the good old black-and-white good..more
I really enjoy/enjoyed the warcraft books and all of the various authors who wrote them..except for mr. metzen. his strengths lie elsewhere -- he has been such major contributor to the look and feel of these games with is art work and design. but writing isn't his strongpoint, i'm afraid. he's not bad..but he's not good either, especially standing next to the other authors who have delved into this world. the story itself was interesting but i think it could have been so much more under someon..more

Of Blood And Honor Warcraft Review
Nice, short novel about a paladin and his internal struggle about honour and doing the right thing.. Having a Horde Palla 85 myself I found it very nice to read this book. It has inspired me to do more battlegrounds and slay my enemies there with even more respect and honour then before :). The novel shouldnt have been any longer and has just the right amount of pages. Perfect read while yr wow subscription has ended and you have to wait for the next sunrise to purchase more playtime at your loc..more

So I'm looking into doing some Warcraft reading and one of the books I want to read is Warcraft: of Blood and Honor. Sadly, it is no longer available on Amazon's ebook store and I'm wondering why it's not. Every other Warcraft book is available except this one. Why? http://www.amazon.com/Warcraft-Blood-Honor-Chris-Metzen-ebook/dp/B000FC0WII Another one that is missing is for Starcraft and it's Starcraft: Uprising http://www.amazon.com/Starcraft-Uprising-Micky-Neilson-ebook/dp/B000FC0USA Both are considered novellas, is that the reason?
You'd be better off asking Amazon, to be honest. ________________________________________________ Customer Support Forum MVP HDL - http://hdl-the-guild.com/~nodrama/ E-mail - [email protected] 'Shhh. My common sense is tingling.' -- Wade Wilson
Sorry, while this is a customer service forum, it is for in game, and I don't think this can be answered here.

That might be the best advice we can give, Bigt. I'm afraid I don't have any information on ebook availability. ~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~ How's my driving? Click me.
You may also want to ask Blizzard's publisher. Gallery Books, which seems to be a division of Simon & Schuster. Of Blood and Honor is a short story by Chris Metzen taking place in the Warcraft universe.
Back-of-book description Edit
The noble Paladin, Tirion Fordring, had always believed the savage Orcs to be vile and corrupt. He had spent his life fighting ceaselessly to protect humanity from their foul treachery. But an unexpected act of honor and compassion sets in motion a chain of events that will challenge Tirion's most fundamental beliefs, and force him to decide once and for all who are the men -- and who are the monsters.
Title explained Edit
The title of the book, 'Of Blood and Honor', is directly linked to the enormous sense of honor that the main character, Tirion Fordring, experiences. It comes from the archaic human words: 'Esarus thar no'Darador', which translates to 'By Blood and Honor We Serve'. These words are often found on the cover of religious tomes in the world of Azeroth.
